Marvin Louis Stamm (född 23 maj 1939) är en amerikansk jazztrumpetare .

Karriär

Stamm föddes i Memphis, Tennessee , USA. Stamm började på trumpet vid tolv års ålder. Han gick på North Texas State University , där han var medlem i One O'Clock Lab Band . Han var medlem i Stan Kentons Mellophonium Orchestra från 1961 till 1963, arbetade sedan med Woody Herman från 1965 till 1966. Efter detta var han med Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra från 1966 till 1972 och med Benny Goodman från 1974 till 1975 .

På 1970-talet började han en decennier lång karriär som en produktiv studio- och sessionsmusiker . I studion har han spelat in med Paul McCartney , Average White Band , Bill Evans , Quincy Jones , Donald Fagen , Oliver Nelson , Duke Pearson , Wes Montgomery , Freddie Hubbard , Stanley Turrentine , Grover Washington, Jr. , Patrick Williams , Michel Legrand , Lena Horne , Frank Foster , Paul Desmond , Frankie Valli , Deodato , Les DeMerle och George Benson . Han spelade flygelhornsolo på " Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey " av Paul McCartney .

På 1980-talet spelade han med John Lewis American Jazz Orchestra , Bob Mintzer Band, George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band (1987), Louie Bellsons Big Band och kompositören Maria Schneiders band . Han har varit medlem i Westchester Jazz Orchestra sedan 2002.
