Taproot Theatre Company
Taproot Theatre Company är ett professionellt, ideellt teatersällskap i Seattle , Washington , med ett mångfacetterat produktionsprogram. Taproot Theatre grundades 1976 av sex vänner, fem av dem utexaminerade från Seattle Pacific University , och har produktioner på sin plats i Greenwood -kvarteret, turnerande produktioner i hela Pacific Northwest och teaterutbildning genom sin skådespelarstudio. Taproot Theatre Company är en medlem av Theatre Communications Group [1] , Theatre Puget Sound [2] och Phinney Neighborhood Association [3] .

Taproot Theatre producerar fem pjäser varje år för sin Mainstage-säsong, plus en årlig semesterproduktion. Spelutbudet inkluderar klassiker, världspremiärer, musikaler, dramer och komedier. Varje Mainstage-produktion erbjuder en betala-vad-du-kan-föreställning. Teatersällskapet når cirka 30 000 publik varje år genom mer än 150 föreställningar.
Utöver sina vanliga framträdanden, arrangerar Taproot matinéer riktade till en specifik publik, antingen studenter eller seniorer. Varje studentmatiné inkluderar en talk-back efter showen med skådespelarna och regissören. För vissa elever är det första gången de ser en professionell produktion.
Skådespeleri studio
Taproot's Acting Studio grundades 1992 för att erbjuda prisvärda, uppmuntrande och konstnärligt utmanande klasser för barn och vuxna som är intresserade av att lära sig skådespeleriet. Under åren sedan dess har Taproot utökat programmet för att erbjuda kurser året runt i dussintals ämnen, inklusive musikteater, skådespeleri på kameran och Shakespeare .
Touring
Taproot Theatre Company började som ett turnerande sällskap 1976 och uppträdde i hela delstaten Washington på skolor, fängelser, kyrkor och samhällscentra. Idag tillbringar Taproot's Road Company läsåret med att använda teater för att undervisa lektioner i sociala frågor som mobbning och förebyggande av trakasserier i skolor i Seattle och i hela Pacific Northwest; detta program började 1985. Varje sommar samlar Taproot ett Road Company av fem professionella skådespelare för att presentera en trespelsrepertoar av pjäser med sociala frågor för skolbefolkningen. Skådespelarna engagerar sig med eleverna efter varje framträdande genom interaktiva talk-back-sessioner och klassrumsdiskussioner. I början av 2008 har över 1 miljon elever sett Taproots pjäser med sociala frågor. Pjäser i det här programmet är skrivna av Northwest-dramatiker och innehåller principer från kommittén för barns [4] steg till respekt och andra steg [5] läroplaner. Under läsåret 2008/2009 introducerade Taproot's Road Company en ny pjäs, New Girl av Josh Hornbeck, om cybermobbning .
TTC monterar också turnerande produktioner för kyrkan och företagssamhällen. Sällskapets improviserade komedi- trupp turnerar också.
