Roberto Manzin (född 8 juli 1966) är en alt, tenor och sopran saxofoner, klarinett, EWI, pianospelare och kompositör.
Biografi
Roberto Manzin föddes den 8 juli 1966 i Rom, Italien, av östeuropeiska flyktingar som också var musiker. Hans musikliv började i Milano dit han flyttade med sin familj när han var fem, han studerade musik privat och sedan på skolan Civica Scuola di Musica Villa Simonetta.
Under 1980-talet började Manzin spela på flera musikklubbar i Milano, och under 1990-talet var han en del av Tony Scott Jazz Quintet (Scott var en amerikansk bebop-klarinettist som uppträdde med Charlie Parker och Billie Holiday ). Manzin blev en framgångsrik sessionsspelare och bidrog till åtta album enbart 1992, med ledande italienska artister samt medverkade i flera TV-reklamer ( Invicta , BMW , TV Sorrisi e Canzoni , etc.). Manzin uppträdde regelbundet i Milanos jazzklubbar som Il Capolinea , Le Scimmie, Tangram, med italienska jazzmusiker som Renato Sellani , Bruno De Filippi , Gianni Cazzola, Tullio De Piscopo , Giorgio Buratti och Marco Ratti . Under samma period turnerade han med den italienske sångaren Enzo Jannacci och den amerikanske artisten Gene Anthony Ray (som spelade rollen som Leroy Johnson i Fame ). Manzin arbetade också mycket inom TV där han spelade med bland andra James Brown , Zucchero Fornaciari och Manu Katché . I slutet av 1990-talet migrerade Manzin till London, där han fortsatte sin musikaliska verksamhet. Under åren har Manzin uppträtt och/eller spelat in med Martha Reeves and the Vandelas, Donna Summer , Dave Weckl , Jim Mullen , Harvie S , Pino Palladino , Trilok Gurtu , Kai Eckhardt , Dennis Rollins , Roberto Pla, Roland Perrin, Richard Bailey, Ernesto Simpson, Nicolas Meier, Jason Rebello , Ska Cubano , Manolín "El Médico de la salsa" , Jesus Cutiño, Omar Puente , Alejandro Sanz , Rumer , Ismael Rivera Jr, Max Carletti , Carmel , Mario Biondi , Space UK , Dave Land, Adrian Reid; Maysa Leak , Francesco Lo Castro , Sid Gauld och Francesco Mendolia (från Incognito) och många andra. Manzin fortsätter att vara en populär sessionsspelare (han spelade in på åtta album 2010, allt från pop till latin, rock/blues, ska och jazz) och framträder på musikfestivaler i hela Europa, samt uppträder regelbundet på många arenor runt om i världen.
