Thiococcus är ett gramnegativt , icke-rörligt, obligat fototrofiskt och strikt anaerobt släkte av bakterier från familjen Chromatiaceae med en känd art ( Thiococcus pfennigii ). Thiococcus pfennigii isolerades först från salta kärr .
