HP Lovecraft Historical Society

HP Lovecraft Historical Society eller HPLHS är organisationen som är värd för Cthulhu Lives! , en grupp live-action-rollspelare för Cthulhu Live- versionen av Call of Cthulhu . Det grundades i Colorado 1984 och är nu baserat i Glendale, Kalifornien . Deras motto är Ludo Fore Putavimus ("Vi trodde att det skulle vara kul").

HPLHS producerar ett antal Cthulhu Mythos- filmer, inklusive den självbetitlade The Call of Cthulhu, såväl som ljudinspelningar, under dess Mythoscope- respektive Mythophone -etiketter. De erbjuder även rekvisita, både till försäljning och gratis nedladdning.

HPLHS, som ursprungligen var en hobbygrupp, har blivit ett vinstdrivande företag som är dedikerat till att skapa innehåll som är troget andan i det gotiska 1920-talets källmaterial men jäser det med lite humor.

• The Call of Cthulhu (2005) – Regisserad av Andrew Leman och beskrevs av en recensent som den mest framgångsrika anpassningen av denna berättelse, den här stumfilmen filmades i svartvitt. Det skapades under loppet av två år på en mycket liten budget. DVD-versionen gjorde det möjligt för tittaren att se filmen med mellantextkorten översatta till vilket som helst av 24 språk.
• The Whisperer in Darkness (2011) – Vissa filminspelningar för denna produktion gjordes på Mount Holyoke College i Massachusetts .
