Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps är en världsklass tävlingsinriktad trum- och buglekår för juniorer . Pacific Crest är baserat i Diamond Bar, Kalifornien och City of Industry, Kalifornien , och är en medlem i Drum Corps International (DCI).
Historia
Pacific Crest grundades 1993 för att tjäna ungdomar i den östra delen av Los Angeles County . Med endast 33 medlemmar under sin invigningssäsong växte kåren i storlek och förmåga samtidigt som den behöll en lokal Kalifornien-profil. Kåren uppträdde inte utanför sin hemstat förrän de reste till Texas för två shower år 2000. Kåren reste till nordväst 2002 , och den gick till slut in på den nationella tävlingsscenen genom att delta i sina första DCI-mästerskap i Orlando, Florida 2003, där många drum corps fans som inte var bekanta med Pacific Crest blev förvånade när kåren nådde semifinalomgången. Även om den nu turnerar nationellt varje säsong, har kåren upprätthållit en policy att spendera ungefär första halvan av säsongen nära hemmet. Även om detta möjligen har hindrat Pacific Crest från att ta sig bortom den andra nivån i världsklasskåren, har det hjälpt till att upprätthålla kåren ekonomiskt genom att begränsa dess resekostnader. Pacific Crest har gått vidare till DCI-semifinalerna 2003, 2007–08, 2011–19 och 2022.
Förutom att uppträda i DCI har Pacific Crest även uppträtt på flera oberoende evenemang, inklusive med Los Angeles Philharmonic på Hollywood Bowl och i Rose Parade 2019.
Sponsorskap
Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps sponsras av Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization (PCYAO), en 501(c)(3) musikalisk organisation som har en styrelse, kårdirektör och personal tilldelade att utföra organisationens uppdrag. Phil Mortensen är styrelsens ordförande och Stuart Pompel är kårens verkställande direktör. PCYAO har tidigare stött en vintervaktenhet (2002-2005) som tävlade i Winter Guard International (WGI) och Winter Guard Association of Southern California (WGASC). Winterguarden tävlade i Independent World Class (2002), Independent Open Class (2003) och Independent A Class (2004-2005); winterguarden var WGI-finalist och WGASC-guldmedaljör för Independent A Class 2004 och 2005. Organisationen sponsrar också ett sommarläger för nuvarande och blivande trummajor på gymnasiet. PCYAO får en del av sin finansiering från Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors genom Los Angeles County Arts Commission .
