Leeds United vann First Division-titeln för första gången i klubbens historia den säsongen. De avslutade titeln den 28 april 1969 med oavgjort 0–0 mot titelutmanarna Liverpool och avslutade säsongen obesegrade på hemmaplan. Queens Park Rangers gick under den 29 mars, efter att ha förlorat 2–1 hemma mot Liverpool .
