Amiral Sir William James Hope-Johnstone KCB (28 juli 1798 – 11 juli 1878) var en kunglig marinens officer som blev överbefälhavare, The Nore .

Marin karriär

Född den andra sonen till viceamiral Sir William Johnstone Hope , William James Hope-Johnstone gick med i den kungliga flottan 1811. Befordrad till kapten 1823, han befäl över HMS Doris , HMS Asia , HMS Britannia , HMS Agincourt och sedan HMS Albion . Han utnämndes till superintendent för Haslar Hospital och Royal Clarence Victualling Yard 1852, Commander-in-Chief, South East Coast of America Station 1854 och Commander-in-Chief, The Nore 1860.

Det finns ett minnesmärke över Hope-Johnstone vid Johnstone Church Burial Ground i Dumfries .

Familj

År 1826 gifte sig Hope-Johnstone med Eleanor Kirkpatrick; de hade tre döttrar.
