Wilson flyttade till New York City 1992 och har arbetat med Lee Konitz , Cecil McBee och Dewey Redman . På frågan om vem som påverkade honom som artist och pedagog, svarar Matt: "Det finns inte en person jag skulle kunna peka på eftersom det finns många av dem."
