Mario Rivera (22 juli 1939 - 10 augusti 2007) var en latin jazzsaxofonist från Dominikanska republiken . Förutom saxofon spelade Rivera trumpet, flöjt, piano, vibrafon, congas och trummor.
Karriär
När Rivera var 22 flyttade han till New York City från Dominikanska republiken och ackompanjerade sångaren Joe Valle. Han tillbringade två år med bandledaren Tito Rodríguez . Under sin karriär arbetade han med Mongo Santamaria , Eddie Palmieri och Machito . 1988 blev han medlem i United Nations Orchestra ledd av Dizzy Gillespie . Han var också medlem i Afro-Cuban Jazz Band ledd av Chico O'Farrill . Från 1970-talet till 1990-talet arbetade han med Tito Puente . Båda medverkade i filmerna Calle 54 och The Mambo Kings . Hans enda soloalbum, El Commandante, släpptes 1996. Rivera dog i cancer den 10 augusti 2007.
