John Fabian Witt

John Fabian Witt är Allen H. Duffy Class of 1960 Professor of Law vid Yale Law School . Han är författare till Lincoln's Code: The Laws of War in American History , som vann 2013 Bancroft Prize in history of the Americas och, 2020, American Contagions: Epidemics and the Law from Smallpox to COVID-19 .

Biografi

Witt fick sin BA, sin JD och sin Ph.D, alla från Yale. 2001 tilldelades han John Addison Porter-priset för "The Accidental Republic: Amputee Workingmen, Destitute Widows, and the Remaking of American Law, 1866-1922." Innan han återvände för att undervisa vid Yale, var han George Welwood Murray professor i rättshistoria vid Columbia University . 2007 kritiserade han den historiska grunden för John Yoos teorier. I april 2017 utsågs Witt till chef för Davenport College , en av Yales 14 bostadshögskolor.
