Scotts Valley fick sitt namn efter Hiram Daniel Scott, som köpte Rancho San Agustin , inklusive dalen, 1850 från Joseph Ladd Majors.

Hiram Scott byggde Scott House i grekisk väckelsestil 1853. Beläget bakom stadshuset, är det ett landmärke i Santa Cruz County Historical Trust och finns i det nationella registret över historiska platser . Huset stod ursprungligen på Scotts Valley Drive, nära där en Bank of America- filial nu ligger.
