Donald Black (sociolog)

Donald Black (född 1941) är en universitetsprofessor i samhällsvetenskap vid University of Virginia . Black fick sin doktorsexamen. i sociologi från University of Michigan 1968, och han undervisade vid Yale och Harvard innan han flyttade till Virginia 1985.

Black är författare till The Behaviour of Law , The Manners and Customs of the Police och Sociological Justice , som alla presenterar olika aspekter av hans teori om rätt. På senare tid The Social Structure of Right and Wrong utvidgat teorin till att ta itu med konflikthantering mer brett. Den fokuserar alltså på tillfällen där människor hanterar konflikter på andra sätt än lagen, såsom genom skvaller, undvikande, självmord eller fejder. Blacks senaste bok, Moral Time , identifierar orsakerna till moraliska konflikter i alla mänskliga relationer.

Black är också grundaren av ren sociologi , ett utmärkande teoretiskt tillvägagångssätt som förklarar mänskligt beteende med dess sociala geometri . Eftersom ren sociologi är ett allmänt sociologiskt paradigm kan det tillämpas på andra ämnen än juridik, konflikter och konflikthantering – till exempel konst, religion och idéer.
