Claudette Holmes

Claudette May Holmes (född 1962) är en brittisk fotograf. Hennes arbete, som använder element av montage och handfärgning , har utmanat stereotypiska representationer av svarta britter .

Liv

Claudette Holmes föddes 1962 i Birmingham , England. I början av 1980-talet arbetade hon inom community arts i Birmingham. 1982 ställde hon ut i Closing the Gap på University of Aston och Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry.

1990 var Holmes bland flera kvinnliga svarta och asiatiska fotografer med i dokumentären Sistren in Photography . 1993 års utställning From Negative Stereotype to Positive Image inkluderade hennes arbete tillsammans med tre andra Birmingham-fotografer: Sir Benjamin Stone (1838–1914), Ernest Dyche (1887–1973) och Vanley Burke (född 1951). 1996 vann hon Chrissie Bailey Photography and Education Award.
