Allen Butterworth (21 juni 1939–24 juni 1974) var en brittisk arkeolog och museiintendent.
Biografi
Butterworth föddes i Stockport. Han tog grundstudier i latin, grekisk och romersk-brittisk arkeologi vid University of Leeds innan han tog en forskarutbildning i förhistorisk europeisk arkeologi från University of London .
Han anslöt sig till Leicester Museums 1964 innan han utnämndes till Keeper of Antiquities vid Sheffield City Museums 1966, och blev så småningom biträdande direktör där 1968. Den 2 november 1970 blev han Keeper of the Yorkshire Museum , en position han behöll till sin plötsliga död den 24 juni 1974. Han var medlem i Museiföreningen och examinator för Museidiplomet och var medlem av Internationella kommittén för arkeologi och historia.
