Utmärkelsen Årets vetenskapsman är en av flera utmärkelser som delas ut i Sydkorea av Korea Science Journalists Association ( ko ). Från 1985 delades den ut till en individ. Från 1999 gavs den till tre vinnare, var och en inom sin egen kategori, som bytte till en kategori och en vinnare 1996, tog bort kategorisystemet från 2011 och tillät flera vinnare året därpå. Pristagarna får en medalj och ett kontantpris på 3 miljoner KRW (ungefär 3 000 USD).
Andra utmärkelser som ges av föreningen inkluderar Korea Science Journalist Award, Korea Medical Scholarship Award, Korean Medical Science Award och Contribution Award for Science and Medicine PR.
