Nancy Wicker

Nancy L. Wicker är professor i konsthistoria vid University of Mississippi . Hon var tidigare professor vid avdelningen för konst vid Minnesota State University, Mankato .

Karriär

Wicker tog examen BA med High Honours från Eastern Illinois University , med huvudämne i konsthistoria och studiokonst, 1975. Hon tog sin MA i konsthistoria från University of Minnesota 1979, följt av sin doktorsexamen . också från Minnesota 1990, med arbete med tvärvetenskaplig konsthistoria, arkeologi och germansk filologi. 1988 tilldelades hon Aurora Borealis-priset av Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study .

Hon utnämndes till biträdande professor vid avdelningen för konst vid Minnesota State University, Mankato, 1990, befordrad till docent 1995 och sedan professor 2000. Sedan 2003 har hon varit professor i konsthistoria vid University of Mississippi. Hon var gästprofessor vid Uppsala universitet .

Wicker är specialist på smyckens funktion under tidig medeltid i Europa och genus och arkeologi som hon har redigerat tre böcker om, inklusive Gender and the Archaeology of Death ( 2001).

Hon har varit ordförande i Society of Historians of Scandinavia, en intresseorganisation inom Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study.
