Michiko Itatani är en Chicago -baserad artist som föddes i Osaka , Japan. Efter att hon fått sin BFA (1974) och MFA (1976) vid School of the Art Institute of Chicago 1974 respektive 1976, återvände hon till sin alma mater 1979 för att undervisa på avdelningen för målning och teckning. Genom sitt arbete utforskar Itatani identitet, fortsättning och att hitta rätt i den moderna världen. Hennes verk skildrar nakna figurer i expressionistisk stil. Itatani har mottagit Illinois Arts Council Artist's Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship och John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship . Hennes verk är samlat på många museer, inklusive Museum of Contemporary Art, Olympic Museum , Schweiz; Villa Haiss Museum, Tyskland; Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec , Kanada; Museu D'art Contemporani (MACBA), Spanien; och National Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydkorea.
