Jason Willett

Jason Willett är en amerikansk musiker , till stor del känd för sitt arbete med experimentella rockgrupper inklusive Half Japanese , Can Openers, Pleasant Livers, X-Ray Eyes, The Dramatics (Martha Colburn och Jason Willett), The Jaunties, The Attitude Robots, Leprechaun Catering , och många fler. Hans nuvarande projekt är: Half Japanese, Period Bomb, Matmos , Spacience, Leprechaun Catering, och fortsätter att lägga ut nytt material i samarbete med Jac Berrocal och David Fenech.

Hans skivbolag, Megaphone, satte till att börja med att ge ut verk av artister som The Work , Fred Frith , the Molecules , Matmos , David Liebe Hart , Tim Hodgkinson och Jac Berrocal , men blev till stor del en plats för Willetts egen samarbetsmusik. Han har också gjort skivor och/eller uppträtt med Ruins , Jac Berrocal , R Stevie Moore , James Chance , Matmos , Hanna Olivegren, Jon Rose , Michael Evans, Ron Anderson , Benb Gallaher, Mick Hobbs, Chris Cutler , Mu Mesons (inte annat band, mu meson), Little Howlin Wolf, Yamatsuka Eye och hans olika husdjursänder.

Son till låtskrivaren Fangette Willett (vars verk inkluderade Tammy St. Johns "Dark Shadows and Empty Hallways" och Walter Jacksons "It's an Uphill Climb to the Bottom"), Jason Willett växte upp i ett musikaliskt hushåll i Maryland. Efter att ha blivit utnämnd till basist för Half Japanese 1990, har han behållit ett samarbete med Jad Fair , med vilken han har producerat 14 samarbetsduosläpp (minst 2000 låtar fortfarande osläppta).

Han har drivit skivbutiken The True Vine från Baltimores Hampden-kvarter i ungefär ett dussin år nu, men har nyligen varit tvungen att flytta den till Baltimores Station North-kvarter.
