IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT) är flaggskeppsmötet för IEEE Information Theory Society . Varje år och under en vecka samlas forskare inom området informationsteori för att dela med sig av sitt arbete i en serie presentationer. Symposiets huvudevenemang är Shannon-föreläsningen, som ges av mottagaren av årets prestigefyllda Claude E. Shannon Award ; årets pristagare avslöjades under föregående ISIT.

Historia

Det första mötet ägde rum 1950, även om det då bara hette "Informationsteori". Claude Shannon var en stor deltagare; han hade publicerat sitt framstående arbete A Mathematical Theory of Communication bara två år före detta möte.

Symposiet hölls sporadiskt i början och det har blivit ett årligt evenemang först efter millennieskiftet.
