Henry W. Clune

Henry W. Clune (8 februari 1890 – 9 oktober 1995) var en amerikansk författare. En välkänd journalist för Democrat and Chronicle i Rochester, New York , hans kolumn "Seen and Heard" publicerades i den tidningen i 55 år. Han skrev också 14 böcker; inklusive sex romaner.

Liv och karriär

Clune föddes i Rochester, New York . Som ung bodde han i området Linden Street i fjortonde församlingen. Han gick på West High School och var en kort tid student vid Phillips Academy i Andover, Massachusetts .

Vid tjugo års ålder anslöt sig Clune till personalen hos Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, först som volontär, sedan som avlönad anställd. Från 1914 till 1969 dök hans kolumn "Seen and Heard" upp i tidningen. Kolumnen fångade färgen och smaken av livet i Rochester, och baserades på tusentals intervjuer som Clune genomförde med invånare och besökare i staden. 1933 publicerades en sammanställning av Clunes tidningsspalter i boken Seen and Heard .

Clune skrev också 14 böcker som omfattade 6 romaner, flera samlingar av kortare stycken och historisk facklitteratur.

Familj

1921 gifte Clune sig med Charlotte Boyle , en nationell simmästare som tävlade i OS 1920 . The Clunes, som hade fyra söner, bodde i många år i Scottsville, New York . Clune dog den 9 oktober 1995, 105 år gammal. Fru Clune dog 1990 vid 91 års ålder.

Högsta betyg

1963 utsågs Henry Clune till Fellow vid Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences och 1965 fick han Friends of the Rochester Public Library's Annual Literary Award.
