Desmond Forristal

Desmond Forristal (1930–2012), var en irländsk präst, författare och tillsammans med Fr. Joseph Dunn, grundaren av Radharc , för vilken han arbetade som författare och regissör.

Desmond Timothy Forristal föddes i Dublin 1930 och bodde i Glasnevin. Han utbildades vid O'Connell School och Belvedere College . Forristals essä vann George Dempsey Memorial Prize 1948, i Belvedere. Han studerade filosofi vid University College Dublin och teologi vid Holy Cross College , Clonliffe, Dublin, där han vigdes till präst 1955. Han doktorerade 1956. Han studerade film och tv i New York 1959.

Fr Forristal och fr Joe Dunn grundade det oberoende filmproduktionsbolaget Radharc 1959, i väntan på grundandet av RTE, som var involverad i produktionen av program om ämnen som rör religiösa, historiska och sociala frågor.

P. Forristal bidrog också som film- och dramakritiker till The Farrow , publicerad i Maynooth.

Han gick i pension som präst 2001 och dog i september 2012. Hans arkiv donerades till National University of Ireland, Maynooth , av hans bror Fr. Ciaran Forristal.
