David S. Katz FRHistS (född 1953) är chef för programmet för idéhistoria och medlem av avdelningen för historia vid Brandeis University och professor emeritus i tidigmodern europeisk historia vid Tel Aviv University i Israel, där han undervisade från 1978 tills han gick i pension 2019. Han innehade Abraham Horodisch-stolen för böckernas historia (1994–2019) vid Tel Avivs universitet och var chef för Lessing Institute for European History and Civilization (2006–2018). Katz tog sin BA från Columbia University (1974) och sin D.Phil. från Oxford University (1978) där han var elev till Hugh Trevor-Roper (Lord Dacre). Han valdes till stipendiat i Royal Historical Society of England 1993.
